CSI Executive Board Meeting Minutes
August 9th, 2010
Present: Jessy Maltbey, Natalie Shea, Leah Gullickson, Kristen Nyholm, Lisa Frankel, Val Westphal, Carla Mueller
Start time: 5:00 PM
I. Kayaking at the Rec & Wellness Center
II. Meeting at El Azteca
A. Process Kayaking
1. Preparation time must always be accounted for
2. Recognized our strengths and weaknesses
3. Time management is important
4. Teamwork was present and key, as we helped each other
B. Review of Our Role Responsibilities
1. We will strive to embrace our roles and follow up with each other as needed
2. Work toward better efficiency so we can have clear defined roles.
C. Discuss Goals
1. Reviewed last year’s goals
2. Established new goals-see attached
D. Our Communication System
1. Doodles to set up meetings
2. Blog to track and process ideas, questions, and notes
a. Each Exec. Member will check weekly
b. Initial or make a note after checked
3. Email or call to contact for more important information
4. Facebook as needed to contact each other
E. Update Information Sheet
1. Collected contact information
2. Natalie will collect missing information and distribute list
F. Review CSI Calendar
1. Reviewed outline of calendar for the ’10-’11 academic year
2. Set up 4 executive meetings and 4 large group meetings
3. Leah and Lisa will promote CSI in orientation classes
a. Jessy will check into the number of orientation classes
b. We will receive permission from professors beforehand
4. Natalie, Leah, and Jessy will finalize calendar by Sept. 1st, 2010
G. Our Mission
1. Jessy will send this to Exec. Board members
2. Need to make sure it matches with our new goals
H. Review of “Leaders” and “Followers”
1. Jessy read poems that describe leaders and followers
2. Leaders “initiate” and followers “react”
I. Heart Beat Activity
1. Activity that requires passing two balls around without dropping them
2. Message: We must keep our eyes on the big picture (the most important ball)

2010-2011 CSI Goals
| Write out Goals | 2010-2011 Goals 1. Use CSI to connect cohorts, communities, and counselors 2. Promote CSI to Incoming Class 3. Promote events in an organized manner in order to improve communication and connect with members/prospective members 4. Establish improved organization habits in order to become more efficient 5. Focus on establishing high-quality, positive events to help members want to become involved 6. Improve communication within the entire CSI organization | -Promote CSI Events -Establish more social time for members -First meeting of the year will be a social meeting on September 16, 2010 -As many Exec. Members as possible will attend social -When promoting events in classes, promoters will arrive 10 minutes early to chat with students and begin connecting with them -Out of respect, promoters will attain timely permission to promote the event from faculty members -Every event must be promoted starting two weeks prior to the event -Agendas and other meeting material will be prepared two days prior to meetings -Executive members will check the blog weekly and initial each read entry -President will send out doodle prior to each executive meeting with date options -Set calendar dates by Sept. 1st, 2010 -No more than one event in a month -Every event must be promoted starting two weeks prior to the event -Utilize: Mass Email Minutes sent out Website Bulletin Board Newsletter (4) Maintain an updated membership contact list |
